Scientific priority and goals of the Institute
The main priority and goal of the Institute is the continuous operation of the VAN telemetric network together with research focused on the increase of the accuracy in the determination of the parameters of an impending major event in general. This requires intense efforts along with collection of additional data, for example precursory electric- and magnetic- field data associated with major earthquakes. During almost the last two decades the telemetric VAN network is operating comprising nine field stations.
An example of a measuring station: Current configuration of the measuring short and long electric dipoles at Volos station (VOL).
